I believe they must be in .avi format to be watched, or .mpeg. You can download a file converted off the web (google it)

yeah mate. you cant put them straight from your USB to your TV, but if you have a PS# i believe that you can get a chords to hook it up to ur tv.
you can download a converter from ‘Google’ that lets you put different formats and put them onto a DVD disk.

First read inside your Owner’s Manual–
..as too WHY..??..you have a USB PORT/
Is your DVD Player also a Recorder/??
===
A USB Ext. HDD is called a peripheral..
..it requires a OS..to operate..
===
I have 2-Capture cards..
A PCI-card and a Ext. Capture card..
The PCI-card has its own software called VideoWAVE–its a DELL Application created by ROXIO/
It has a OUTPUT(port)..but I must first LOAD the File(to EXPORT–>>usually via S-video/to my Television S-Video Port/it takes a long time..its really more trouble than its worth..
===
The Ext. Capture Card also requires a OS and some software to operate/
If I was looking at a Video File that I did NOT want to VIEW on my PC Monitor..
I would still need to LOAD that File–prior–to viewing externally..
I can’t just CLICK the File and PLAY–externally..
Its called EXPORT..or DownLOAD/down port/
Its called IMPORT..or UpLOAD../up port/
===
This is why you have a System C:/drive..its your Brain–and –Operating System..
You can’t bypass it.
