Sadly no. Clayton County Schools are in a bit of turmoil, due to the actions of the board of ed. Look to Henry or Fayette county for better schools.

Clayton County has a terrible school system! They also have a terrible crime problem.

I am a graduate of Mount Zion High School. I also attended Forest Park Middle and High School. There is a private school called Woodward Academy – You could look into that.

If you can get your child into some of the newer schools in Henry County then you should be okay. Just do your research.

I plan to homeschool my son.

As a native Atlantan I can assure you others that have responded are correct. Clayton County is the poorest of all Metro Atlanta counties and beyond. Recently the school board in Clayton was in turmoil with many problems still not corrected. As the poorest, tax base cannot compete with other surrounding school systems, therefore, this county’s inability to attract good teachers, maintain good school buildings, nor provide latest technology. Riverdale area schools maybe the best found in Clayton County.

You are going to find some of the best schools in the nation north of Atlanta in North Fulton County/South Forsyth County area.

If the southside of Atlanta is desired go further south to Fayette County in Peachtree City area. This is home for many Delta pilots and other employees. You also have a town called Newnan, GA as well.

If you and your family are not totally familiar with the Atlanta area and counties I suggest you rent a home or apartment before purchasing anywhere. You will find cheaper housing on the southside, but is it worth it.

Traffic is “horrible” in some parts and you do not want to sit on the roads during your commute. If your employment is on the northside no way you want to live south and “vice versa”.

If you are not familiar with our driving here, we drive FAST!
